David Chaplin
Retired as of 11/21/23

Dr. David Chaplin did his pre-veterinary work at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, graduating with a B.S. in Animal Science. After college he took some time to join the Peace Corps and traveled to Thailand working with large animal veterinarians in rural villages.  Dr. Chaplin especially enjoyed working with the local water buffalo.

Upon his return from Thailand, Dr. Chaplin took up a career as an educator, teaching in a private NH institution, before applying to veterinary school. Dr. Chaplin graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1984, as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ohio State University Veterinary School.

Following graduation, Dr. Chaplin joined a very busy, two doctor-two office practice in Dracut and Lowell, MA, practicing there for several years before taking up solo practice in Dedham, MA.  In 1990, Dr. Chaplin moved his family to the serene  Maine countryside where he had vacationed as a youngster and become a camp counselor as a young man.  In Maine, Dr. Chaplin practiced in several locations (Pine Tree Veterinary Hospital, Lewiston Veterinary Hospital and The Animal Emergency Clinic of Mid Maine) adding experience and innovation (GI endoscopy, Abdominal and Cardiac Ultrasound) to his many specialties before bringing his ample skill set to the Falls Road Veterinary Clinic.

Dr. Chaplin enjoys working in the Farmington area.  He is especially pleased with the improvements Dr. Morton has brought to the facility as it eases the burden on the community by requiring less frequent travel for referral appointments.  He appreciates the family atmosphere of this busy clinic and is proud of the quality of medicine that he and the dedicated staff are able to provide the community.   Dr. Chaplin enjoys spending his free time with his family.  He has two adult children and three grandchildren.
